Legion of Mary
“I am all thine, my Queen, my Mother, and all that I have is thine.”
The Legion of Mary is a worldwide group of men, women and youth, who are devoted to the Rosary and to active evangelical work in the community under the guidance of the pastor. Adult members meet on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the Rectory. They promise to pray the Rosary daily and participate in some outreach work each week. Their goal is to serve under the banner of Mary, taking Mary as their model, helping her to bring souls under the protection of her loving care, closer to her Son, Jesus Christ. New members are always welcome.
Adult Membership: Legion of Mary Senior members participate in a variety of outreach programs. We visit the sick and elderly in two area nursing homes, saying the rosary with them and offering companionship to those who have no family nearby. Members bring the Pilgrim Statue of Mary to parishioners’ homes, praying the Rosary and devotional prayers with the family and their friends. Members teach in the Parish CCD program. Senior and junior members sing carols at nursing homes over the Christmas holidays. Members visit homes of our Auxiliary members to stay in touch, encouraging devotion to the Rosary and to prayer within the family. Some of our members have been called by the Holy Spirit to go door to door, knocking to see who will talk with us about the Lord and His Mother.
At our annual outreach event “The Book Barrow’, we distribute free rosaries, Miraculous Medals, holy cards, prayer booklets, statues, holy pictures, and religious books, donated by parishioners, to all who come to see. During this day, the Holy Spirit has placed in our path, children who have not been baptized, others in need of Communion or Confirmation and we have been given the opportunity to encourage fallen-away Catholics to return to the practice of their faith. We also organize an annual “Rosary Rally’, a living rosary of parishioners who love to please our heavenly Mother Mary through this beautiful devotion. All are invited to participate each October, the month of the Rosary, at the Church. Watch your bulletin for date and time.
Junior Membership: Our Junior members, those under 18, are also dedicated to Mary and to doing good works within their families and in their schools and community and in praying the Rosary daily. These young men and women meet weekly on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm in the Rectory.
Auxiliary Membership: Our Auxiliary members are those who cannot come to our meetings, but who pray the Rosary daily and say the Legion prayers. The graces that flow from their prayer strengthen the active members in their outreach, helping Mary in her work to save souls.
